Culmen International is seeking Youth Care Workers/Shift Leaders/YCW Supervisors to support an upcoming Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) mission. The positions are responsible for providing direct care supervision for youth residing in care fostering an environment that facilitates learning and behavioral management in a supportive manner.  Positions are subject to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays. 

Roles & Responsibilities

Youth Care Worker:

 

  • Ensure the proper supervision of youth in care at all times by ensuring ratios are continuously met. 
  • Conduct intake services to include but not limited to: completing necessary paperwork, providing youth with an overview of the program services, and provide basic needs.  
  • Must ensure all forms and clients' services are properly completed in the organization’s web-based program to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements. 
  • Assist with the coordination of Physical Education instruction and other large muscle activities. 
  • Report and document required information pertaining to supervision forms, close observations, food logs, sleep logs and bed check logs. 
  • In the absence of a shift leader, may be asked to serve as the interim shift leader and be responsible for overseeing program operations within their shift with pre-approval by the Program Manager. 
  • Be able to assist in the distribution of medications to youth as prescribed by Medical Provider. 
  • Serve as a Substitute Teacher in the absence of the Teacher in a classroom setting. 
  • Must assist in the evacuation of youth as needed due to inclement weather conditions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen occurrences. 
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and hazard-free facility. Tasks include general cleaning of common areas and general maintenance of outdoor areas. 
  • Travel as needed for youth transportation within the U.S. 
  • Work independently, react to change productively, and handle other essential tasks as assigned while exercising a high level of confidentiality. 

 

 

Shift Leader:

 

  • Ensure the proper supervision of youth in care at all times by ensuring ratios are continuously met.
  • Assist with the training of newly hired Youth Care Workers.
  • Ensure scheduled outings are executed in a timely and organized manner.
  • Oversee and assist with intake services to include but not limited to completing necessary paperwork, providing youth with an overview of program services, and provide basic needs.
  • Assist Youth Care Workers with the completion of forms pertaining to clients' services.
  • Ensure the execution of Physical Education instruction and other large muscle activities.
  • Oversee program operations within their shift.
  • Serve as the point of contact for on-duty Youth Care Workers during their shift.
  • Brief the oncoming Youth Care Workers to assign tasks and prepare them for their shift.
  • Assist in the evacuation of youth as needed due to inclement weather conditions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen occurrences.
  • Work independently, react to change productively, and handle other essential tasks as assigned while exercising a high level of confidentiality.

 

Youth Care Worker Supervisor:

  • Ensure the proper supervision of youth at all times by ensuring ratios are continuously met. 

  • Assist other departments with the coordination of youth outings. 

  • Ensure the daily operation schedule is being followed. 

  • Oversee the intake process and ensure basic needs are being provided in a timely manner. 

  • Ensure services provided to youth are properly documented in the organization’s web-based program. 

  • Review reports and documentation submitted by Direct Care staff for accuracy and timely submission.  

  • Assist with floor coverage as needed. 

  • Create Direct Care work schedule while ensuring 24-hour coverage. 

  • Provide guidance and feedback to employees under their direct supervision to ensure policies and procedures are being followed. 

  • Facilitate information as needed for reports and monitoring activities. 

  • Ensure children receive Physical Education, as well as Large Muscle group according to the Daily operational schedule.  

  • Must assist in the evacuation of youth as needed due to inclement weather conditions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen occurrences. 

  • Travel as needed for youth transportation within the U.S. 

  • Work independently, react to change productively, and handle other essential tasks as assigned while exercising a high level of confidentiality.  

Basic Qualifications

Youth Care Worker:

 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent 
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience working with youth, preferably in an ORR setting. 
  • Must be computer literate. 
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire. 
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish (verbal and written) required. 
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License. 
  • Possess a cleared Tuberculosis test. 
  • Ability to successfully clear a background check. 
  • Ability to successfully clear a drug screening. 
  • Provide immunization documentation for Tdap, Varicella, MMR, Hepatitis A and B, Varicella. 
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer. 

 

Shift Leader:

 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience working with youth, preferably in an ORR setting.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish (verbal and written) required.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License.

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience working with youth, preferably in an ORR setting. 

  • Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience. 
  • Must be computer literate. 
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire. 
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish (verbal and written) required. 
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License. 
  • Possess a clear Tuberculosis test. 
  • Ability to successfully clear a background check. 
  • Ability to successfully clear a drug screening. 
  • Provide immunization documentation for Tdap, Varicella, MMR, Hepatitis A and B, Varicella. 
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
