Culmen International is seeking a Research Scientist for a Walter Reed Army Institute of Research program in Silver Springs, MD.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

Conduct a range of primary research activities aimed at assessing the safety and effectiveness of neurotherapeutics and medical devices for the prevention and treatment of mild to severe traumatic brain injury (TBI), with or without polytrauma, in pre-clinical models. This involves the successful integration of existing literature, the creation of innovative research protocols and grant proposals, a solid understanding of research methodologies, data collection, data management, statistical analysis, manuscript writing, leading presentations, and a functional knowledge of military requirements and conditions. Manage research projects, which includes planning and overseeing experiments, guiding research personnel (such as post-doctoral fellows, research associates, and assistants) and collaborators in carrying out these experiments, and offering insights into the experimental goals and methods most effective for achieving these goals. Formulate and assess therapeutic approaches to identify and counteract molecular, cellular, clinical, and functional changes caused by TBI or TBI with polytrauma, in support of the research branch's objectives and the execution of complex tasks. Additionally, develop novel technical methods for neuroscience and injury mechanisms as necessary. Independent work is required in all facets of the research, including advanced statistical analyses, while adhering to predetermined deadlines.

Basic Qualifications

A doctorate in neuroscience or a related field within the biological sciences, along with a minimum of three years of work experience, is required. US Citizenship is Required.
