About the Role

Culmen International is seeking a Safety Officer for a future Health and Human Services opportunity.

 

The Safety Officer assists with developing safety policies and procedures, participating in the safety training and education of staff, inspecting work areas and activities for hazards, and investigating accidents. The Safety Officer will maintain a flexible, organized, and efficient work schedule and is subject to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays.

What You’ll Do in Your New Role

  • Oversee compliance with safety regulations by ensuring employees and all other individuals within the facility comply with safety regulations and policies.
  • Support the development of OHS policies and programs and provide training.
  • Inspect the internal and external surroundings of the facility to look for any safety concerns or hazards, including slippery areas, fire hazards, broken equipment, or any other situation that can be a source of accident or injury.
  • Report safety violations and/or hazards that are found using detailed notes including time and place. If possible, within safety regulations, correct any hazardous situations.
  • Remain aware of potential safety concerns throughout their entirety while neutralizing dangerous situations calmly and professionally.
  • Promote safe practices and enforce security rules at the facility, such as post signs or conduct meetings on how to comply with safety practices.
  • Work independently, react to change productively, and handle other essential tasks as assigned while exercising a high level of confidentiality

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety management, engineering, or relevant field.
  • Possess a certificate in occupational health and safety.
  • Minimum of (2) two years experience as a safety officer or similar role.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish (verbal and written) preferred.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Possess a clear Tuberculosis test.
  • Ability to successfully clear a background check.
  • Ability to successfully clear a drug screening.
  • Provide immunization documentation for Tdap, Varicella, MMR, Hepatitis A and B, Varicella.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
