About the Role

Culmen International is seeking a Travel Youth Care Worker for a future Health and Human Services opportunity!

What You’ll Do in Your New Role

The role of a Travel Youth Care Worker (TYCW) requires a deep sense of compassion for children and a strong desire to positively impact their lives. A qualified candidate provides care and support to unaccompanied children, accompanying them on domestic flights or ground transportation to sponsors or facilities across the country. During these journeys, the TYCW uses their language skills to communicate in a culturally sensitive way, creating a safe and nurturing environment. They complete all necessary paperwork for transportation, ensuring that personal belongings and medication are secured, and provide orientation while meeting the physical, emotional, and health needs of the children. The TYCW is always attentive to their surroundings, establishes behavioral expectations, and provides appropriate guidance. They keep track of trip progress and complete all required documentation at the end of each trip.

  • Ensuring the safe and secure transportation of unaccompanied children in a caring and humane manner, following established transportation policies.
  • Providing constant supervision for all unaccompanied children. - Offering
  • orientation in a language understandable to all children.
  • Reviewing documentation to ensure it contains all necessary travel information.
  • Completing, verifying, and providing documentation to all involved parties.
  • Providing meals, snacks, and appropriate clothing based on weather conditions.
  • Documenting all details including medication and meals provided, as well as any refusals.
  • Reporting to the operations manager at established checkpoints and documenting all important information regarding changes or disruptions during transportation.
  • Maintaining a medication log for unaccompanied minors, including details on medication type, method, and any irregularities in self-administration compared to prescription directions, if applicable.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-2 years of documented experience in a field related to human services, or similar occupational area. 
  • Fluent in Spanish/English.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must possess a current and valid government ID card to facilitate air travel nationwide.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both verbal and written.
  • Empathetic and compassionate individual with the ability to maintain confidentiality.  
  • Availability to support flexible schedules.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to successfully pass a Child Abuse and Neglect Check
  • HSPD-12 PIV Credential Tier 1.
  • Ability to pass a drug test; may be subject to random drug testing throughout employment.
  • May be subject to National Agency Check and Inquiries—NACI Clearance.   

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working in Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), or related organization to include private organization executing similar service.
  • Associate degree in related field
