About the Role

Culmen International is seeking an Program Manager/Laboratory Manager to join our team in Silver Springs, Maryland.

What You’ll Do in Your New Role

The program manager is responsible for multiple functions within an organization's research and logistics departments.

 

  • Coordination of science and technology objectives, coordinating work done under science and technology objectives, ensure resources are available for projects according to approved cost, schedule and performance baselines, assists in the management of the scientific program by providing project management, crafting scientific reports, status reports, technical abstracts for collaborators and funders.
  • Coordinates meetings, budget and accounting, space management, personnel management, agreements, and purchasing. Sets up and maintains department files and assists with initiating, organizing, completing department projects.
  • Draft/route memos, department correspondence, publication clearances and travel requests.
  • Meeting management to include maintaining department calendar, plan itineraries and agenda’s, maintain meeting minutes, disseminate meeting information, coordinate meeting rooms/phone bridges/web meetings.
  • Coordinates the initiation and processing of purchase orders, supply sources, work orders and maintenance requests. Communicates with internal staff and external customers.
  • Communicates with vendors and obtains quotes for supplies.
  • Assist in managing collection, maintenance, analysis, and evaluation of data used in grant submissions, presentations, and publications.
  • Assist in ensuring all required reports are completed and submitted on time, assist in the transportation of raw materials and/or finished goods, vendor selection and negotiation, distribution of supplies as needed, and inventory control.
  • The program manager shall be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures and utilize extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, perform a variety of tasks, and lead and direct the work of others.
  • The program manager is granted a wide degree of creativity and latitude and typically reports to top management.

Required Qualifications

  • Master of Science (MS) in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Physiology, Molecular Biology, or other related scientific field
  • Seven years of experience in laboratory management, ordering, shipping and receiving, budget analysis, coordinating laboratory activities in a therapeutic development laboratory, or similar relevant experience
  • Experience with creation and maintenance of timelines, milestones and deliverables tracking, understanding government agreements including MTAs, CRADAs, CTAs and Clinical Trial Agreements
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office product suite, Endnote reference manager
  • Knowledge of supplies ordering/procurement with training and use of the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS), Electronic Centralized Acquisition Tool (ECAT), and Medical Master Catalog (MMC) systems
