About the Role

Culmen is seeking a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Administrator to support our mission in Lamdshuhl, Germany.

 

The LIMS Administrator manages, configures, maintains, and supports laboratory information management systems used to track samples, testing activities, and research data. The position serves as the primary interface between laboratory operations and information technology resources.

 

What You’ll Do in Your New Role

  • Responsible for managing laboratory automation projects, which includes monitoring, reviewing, integrating, and maintaining these systems. This involves the use of a Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). 
  • Key responsibilities include identifying, evaluating, and developing laboratory data requirements as well as integrating various scientific instruments. Additionally, the role involves translating technical specifications into programming specifications and utilizing programming languages for development.
  • Other responsibilities include writing, debugging, and maintaining code related to LIMS, addressing user functional needs and requirements, and employing network management and monitoring tools. The position also requires knowledge of computer operating systems, application software, hardware and software requirements, system integrity, and managing workstations within the context of public health concepts, principles, and practices.
  • Familiarity with laboratory quality assurance principles and security regulations, as well as understanding infrastructure requirements, internal commands and processes, systems management, and systems security, is essential. The role includes oversight of backup and restoration processes, database maintenance, and testing, debugging, and maintaining software programs.
  • Experience with Crystal Reports or equivalent reporting tools, knowledge of disaster recovery procedures, and familiarity with Domain Naming System (DNS) are also important. Additionally, the role requires understanding data transfer methods, storage limitations, instrument configurations, site configurations, and the development and use of business case analysis techniques.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in the physical sciences, computer science, engineering or other closely related discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in a relevant laboratory setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to pass a background screening.
  • Fluent in English
