Culmen International is building a nationwide talent pipeline of qualified Security Training Instructors (STIs) to support future TSA Screening Partnership Program (SPP) at commercial airports across the United States.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced security and training professionals who are passionate about developing others, strengthening security operations, and creating a culture of continuous learning and excellence.

 

As a Security Training Instructor, you will play an important role in preparing Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) to confidently and effectively perform their mission. You will deliver and manage TSA-required screener training while maintaining your own operational screening proficiency and partnering with Culmen operational leadership and TSA training counterparts to provide consistent, compliant, and effective training.

What You’ll Do in Your New Role

  • Deliver TSA-approved initial, recurrent, remedial, return-to-duty, and specialized screening training.
  • Complete and maintain required TSA instructor and screener certifications.
  • Conduct passenger and baggage screening as required to maintain operational proficiency and certification.
  • Deliver engaging classroom, practical, and OJT-related instruction consistent with TSA requirements.
  • Evaluate student performance and identify individual and systemic training gaps.
  • Coordinate remedial training following performance deficiencies or failure to adhere to screening SOPs.
  • Maintain accurate training, certification, and compliance records.
    Partner with operational supervisors to identify trends, screening weaknesses, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support Assistant Training Instructors and OJT coaches, where applicable.
  • Foster a professional, learner-focused training environment that emphasizes security effectiveness, operational excellence, and customer service.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to satisfy applicable TSA requirements for Security Training Instructor qualification and certification.
  • Experience providing adult-learning classroom instruction, formal instructor training/certification, or equivalent instructional experience.
  • Strong knowledge of security screening procedures and operational training principles.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work irregular schedules, including weekends and holidays, as required by airport operations.
  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. National with the ability to satisfy applicable TSA background and suitability requirements.

Desired Qualifications

  • Current or prior TSA/Security Training Instructor qualification.  
  • Current or prior Level II TSO certification.  
  • Experience delivering TSA nationally developed training.  
  • Experience with remedial training, OJT, training quality assurance, and learning-management systems.  
  • Formal instructor or adult-learning certification.
